The Police Act Laws of The Federation of Nigerian 2004 (Alteration)Bill,2015.

Yay!!! Happy New Year to all our readers and loved ones out there, what a great day to begin posting Bills summary that has so far been introduced in the 8th Assembly.

At EOTM, we will commence the posting of long title and explanatory notes of Bills as it appears on the National Assembly Journal. You may request a copy of any Bill of interest to you, as well as requesting us to scrutinize Bills of interest on this blog. At Eyes on the Mandate, we are committed to bridging the information gap between the National Assembly and the Public.

Below is the long title and explanatory note of a Bill sponsored by Hon. Joan O, Mrakpor.

LONG TITLE

A BILL FOR AN ACT TO ALTER SECTION 124 OF THE POLICE ACT, CAP. P19 LAWS OF THE FEDERATION OF NIGERIA 2004 AND FOR MATTERS CONNECTED THERETO, 2015

EXPLANATORY MEMORANDUM

The Bill seeks to Alter Section 124 of the Police Act Cap. P19 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004 to provide for the need for male Police Officers like their female counterparts seeking to get married to apply for permission. This becomes necessary because of recent upsurge in heinous crimes involving women like armed robbery, terrorism etc.

I wonder if police officers have the slightest idea about this Bill.
Do you support this Bill?
